Investigator: Stastna Eva (Visiting PhD student from CEITEC, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic)

Supervisors (in Erlangen): Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini

Supervisor in Brno: Doc. Ing. Klára Částková, PhD. (Advanced Materials, CEITEC Brno University of Technology, Czech republic)

Eva received her master's degree in 2016 at the Faculty of Mechanical engineering at Brno University of Technology. Then she started her PhD studies at Central European Institute of Technology at the Department of Advanced Materials. The core of her studies is preparation of biocompatible fibrous structures via electrospinning for tissue engineering. She focuses mainly on bioresorbable bone scaffolds consisting of polycaprolactone matrix and incorporated hydroxyapatite phase. She also studies the influence of surface plasma treatment on bioactivity of the fibrous polymer structures.

Her project at the FAU Institute of Biomaterials involves the evaluation of the mechanical and biological properties of her fibrous structures, especially to understand in-depth the influence of the ceramic (hydroxyapatite) phase in the polymer matrix on the structural characteristics.
