Determination of cancer pathogenicity at single cell scale
Investigator: Andreas Vierling (Master Student)
Supervisor: Dr. Aldo Leal-Egana, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Aldo Boccaccini
Metastatic cancer cells can be detected by their several characteristic cues, such as migration speed, morphology, and exertion of traction forces [1]. During the present Master thesis project, the research will focus on studying physiological and biophysical differences found between cells cultured on 2D flat surfaces (traditional strategy) and those previously cultured in entrapment (immobilizing cells within 3D tumor-like microcapsules).
